Henrique Oliveira (1973, São Paulo) participates in the IJsselbiennale, on view until September 19. Titled TIJ, TIME, and TEMPORARILY, this edition has as its central theme the impacts of global warming and celebrates the relationship between humans and landscape. In May, a month before the opening, Oliveira gave an interview to artist Nina Azzarello:
"The curators offered me the ruins of a mill, which I found quite picturesque for a new sculpture. It's the type of project where I feel free to experiment and improvise. I drew some cuts of flexible plywood and bury it all, leaving it maturing for three months.”
Amongst the institutions in which the artist has presented solo exhibitions are Centro Cultural São Paulo, and Gifu Museum of Fine Arts, Japan (2018); Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Universidade de SP (2014); Palais de Tokyo, France and Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, USA (2011).
