about

In her artistic practice, Tatiana Blass transits between different media, such as painting, video, sculpture, and installation, constantly referencing other artistic languages such as theater, literature, and music. By investigating the fraying of visual and symbolic language, her works allow us to glimpse the gaps and the wear and tear of the experience narrated by conventional discourses and reasoning. Assuming the lack and the imponderable, the works subtract functionality, materiality, and integrity from real objects and elements. Using operations of muffling musical instruments, melting wax sculptures, sealing or corrosion, Blass gradually dilutes and reconfigures modes of existence in space and time.

With a BFA from the Universidade Estadual Paulista, Blass has held solo exhibitions in Brazil and abroad, such as Balanço Alicerce, Instituto Figueiredo Ferraz, Ribeirão Preto, in 2024; , at the Sesc Palladium, Belo Horizonte and Twists, Galeria Millan, São Paulo in 2022; Mais dia, menos noite, Museu de Arte da Pampulha, Belo Horizonte in 2019; A Desprofissão, Galeria Millan, São Paulo, in 2016; As well as in institutions such as Kunsthuset Kabuso, Øystese, Norway, 2014;  Johannes Vogt Gallery, New York, USA in the previous year;  Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver, USA, 2013;  Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 2011;  Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa, Lisbon, Portugal, 2011 and at the Museu de Arte Moderna da Bahia, Salvador, in 2009.
